Andrew Rene Hernandez, a 22-year-old Hollywood man was arrested on a Felony misdemeanor count of unsafe operation of an unmanned aircraft after crashing his drone into the Los Angels Police Department helicopter. If convicted, he is looking at a significant fine and up to one year in jail. It’s also believed this is the first criminal case in the nation on this type of allegation.
It’s worth noting that this week is National Drone Safety Awareness Week, which is sponsored by the Federal Aviation Administration and seeks to promote drone safety.
